I guess, it all depends on how you are as a parent, how your children will act, so if a parent is one who is strict with no tolerance and the child has no other means to cope and rebels because of such said circumstance then by all means take away his suffering (though more then likely. Well I just read it and a couple things stand out, which is the basis for the discussion in the first place.
